Adam Hughes

My name is Adam Hughes and I graduated two years ago with a 2:1 from the BA (Hons) World Performance course at East 15 Acting School in Southend on Sea. I suffer from Anxiety and Depression and I have designed this blog to help raise awareness for Mental Health Sufferers.
Currently I am working as a guest experience host at the Sea Life Aquarium in London, delivering talks and presentations and interacting with guests, and prior to this I worked as a performer at the London Dungeons. At Sea Life I am designing my own outreach programme to send out to schools across London, using drama games to help children understand marine life. I wrote up all the lesson plans for these sessions.
Working in two major London attractions I have honed my skills as a character actor and have developed my voice to suit all manner of characters and accents. I have worked on a number of tours that have demanded my highest skills and professionalism. As a character actor I can play a multitude of different characters, ranging from the bizarre to everyday people, but I have a strong skill in bold characters.
I have worked on a number of films as an extra and have an understanding of how the filming industry works but I would like the opportunity to work in films more as well as a career on stage.
I am also a keen writer and storyteller. I am just writing a new 4 part short story called the Sirens Vacancy and I am looking for new platforms to perform and promote this new piece of writing.
I have just finished, for the 4th year, at the Camden Fringe with Spark buddy Productions with the extreme improvisation championship. I have done a radio and live recorded session with Spark buddy productions. Previously I have assisted in taking three shows to the Camden Fringe with three different companies.
Whilst on the World Performance course I have developed performance skills from different practitioners from all around the world as well as training in western methods of performance. I am a passionate and dedicated performer who is looking to explore a career in the industry. I am interested in exploring a career as storyteller and character actor. I have strong abilities in improvisation and character voices and physicality. I performed in Pantomime in 2015 with Chaplains Pantomimes as the Villain in Jack and the Beanstalk and as Sarah the Cook, the Dame, in Dick Whittington in 2016.
I have been a volunteer in Front of House for More London at the Scoop Theatre in London and at my local library in the Children’s summer reading scheme. In these roles I was asked to perform a number of tasks, such as handling money and merchandise and talking to the public. As well as this I have worked closely with children to help them with talking about the books they had read on the scheme.
