My name is Chris Wilson and I am the owner of Against The Grain Pet Nutrition. I spent 15 years as a registered nurse, then decided to change course to follow my passion - animals. I have rescued and fostered cats and dogs (especially the German Shepherd breed) since 2004. I have seen first-hand how appropriate nutrition can benefit many conditions.
We lost our first shepherd, Bear in 2006. He was 9 years old and had just been diagnosed with lymphoma. His illness opened the door to the world of better nutrition and holistic remedies. I lost a very special kitty in 2007 to liver failure which I believe was directly related to the food I was feeding her at the time. She was only 7 years old.
I wish I knew then what I know now. Then, I did not know what I was feeding them was so lacking in nutrients, so loaded with chemicals and other unhealthy ingredients. Losing these precious souls has been the catalyst for learning, learning and learning some more.
