I am a Geological Engineer turned Location Tech Geek who grew up and went at school in Senegal before landing in Quebec on a Canadian scholarship more than 2 decades ago.
On the academic level: I hold an MBA degree with a major in IT Management from Laval University in Quebec City and a M.Sc. degree from Quebec's National Institute for Scientific Research (NISR). Prior to my graduate studies, I had earned an Geological Engineering degree from the Earth Sciences Institute at the University of Dakar in Senegal (same as the President of Senegal Macky Sall).
At the professional level: I have enjoyed more than 19 years of experience acquired as Director of National Mapping (Government of Senegal, Current position), Director General of GENHY Conseil in Senegal (Consulting Company that I co-founded), Geomatics Director (Axsera Inc., a Telecom Company in Montreal), GIS Specialist/Coordinator (Intrado Inc., a 911 Company in Montreal), Geomatics Research Professional (Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Quebec City), GIS Analyst and later on Geospatial Information Resources Manager (Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources in Hearst and Timmins/South Porcupine), and Jr GIS Officer (Quebec-based BBGL-International, Architecture Company in Vientiane) in Laos, South-East Asia.
Throughout my career, I have been involved in high level management and decision making processes.
I am currently the Chair/President of the Executive Bureau of the Regional Committee of the United Nations Experts Group on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM: AFRICA) with the support of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UN-ECA) as the Secretariat.
