Ms. Fairweather grew up in Upstate New York and moved to Texas with her family while in high school. Getting into the Texas spirit she learned to ride and shoot at West Texas State University.
Her interests are varied from emergency work to politics, from art to writing and from cats to catastrophes. She earned a bachelor of science degree in Disaster Management from the University of North Texas and currently works for FEMA as a disaster reservist. She's an accomplished artist with work published in books and magazines both in the United States and overseas, owns her own greeting card company, and managed her cat Perry's 2008 online presidential campaign.
Community service is very important to Ms. Fairweather. She has worked as a volunteer for the American Red Cross, supervised the Civil Air Patrol cadet program for nine years, did search and rescue work, disaster response and recovery, managed a city-wide learn to swim program, worked with YMCA baseball, taught health, safety and disaster classes, learned emergency communications, worked with the disabled, taught English as a Second Language, art lessons and has helped numerous individuals in need.
She also loves her pound kitties and dogs.
