NOTE:As a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing Assistant, I have had the privilege of helping many families during the loss of a loved one. I understand the emotional and spiritual impact a death has on those left behind. In hospice care, one has time to prepare for the death and to say goodbye. The greatest tragedy is the sudden death of a loved one, especially a child. This is the hardest loss of all. Our son, Jon, passed away from cancer in 2010. He was given 3-6 months to live. He made it for 15 months. You never get over the death of your child, but you do learn to live with it. The Memory Bears I made from Jon’s clothing, (which he picked out), were the hardest bears I have ever made. Through my tears, I know what it is to create a Memory Bear from the heart.
