Lizzie Chaidez
Los Angeles, CA
Lizzie Chaidez is a coffee shop hussy and a Xicana poet/writer from Northeast Los Angeles—Glassell Park. A Mills College graduate who holds a B.A in English Literature and pues ya sabes trying to make use of it! The themes expressed in her work are: gender, race, sexuality, immigration, genocide, colonialism, memory, and generally issues of those living in a state of in-between—Nepantla. She believes in documenting our experiences, past and present. By telling our stories we have the power to create social change, heal, inspire, transform, and create possibilities for ourselves and the communities we belong to.
Lizzie has been published in So Speak Up an anthology featuring Poets of Color from Mills College (2009) and L.A Weekly’s Poetry blog (2011).
