Eddie Roberts Sculpture
Eddie is a Self taught metal sculptor from Sunderland, United Kingdom, now relocated, living and working in Melbourne, Australia. Eddie has recently discovered his British/American heritage, influencing his current works. Yet always brings his UK North-Eastern history into play.
Eddie's work questions form, shape, colour, light and the use of materials. Firstly the maquette for a sculpture is formed from polypropylene, with set but not strict rules, these shapes are formed. Then using techniques learned in the past and currently, Eddie makes the final sculpture. Always pushing the boundaries of material usage and letting the viewer make their own decision on what shapes and forms mean to them. Colour is sometimes introduced to highlight shape and form, as is head in melting the maquettes to completely change the properties of the polypropylene used.
