I am a Lifetime Kentuckian, a graduate physical-organic chemist (University of Kentucky), a U.S. Army veteran (USASA 1SAD, active duty '64-'68), and I am retired from a 30-year career as a senior professional with General Electric. I was raised as a Bible-believing Christian (Methodist) and as late as age 17 I was planning to go first to college to study chemistry then to seminary to become a preacher; but I was a serious doubter by age of 20, UN-born again at age of 21, an "atheist in the foxhole" by age 22, and I've been a publicly active atheist (of the agnostic variety except for any God described to possess logically contradictory attributes/properties) for the last three decades. Philosophically I am a critical rationalist and freethinker, politically I am a little-l libertarian (an economically conservative social liberal), and for kicks I engage in Internet dialoguing, Young-Earth Creationist-watching, amateur astronomy, and on occasion I play chess and rifle target-shoot. My "recreational drug" of choice is music.
