What-ho there!
I am a twenty something-or-other year old writer and a musician as well (from time to time). I play the Double Bass, sing and when relaxing twiddle on the fiddle too. A fan of jam, horses and jolly old mountain whatnots (possibly all together), most of my poetry contains an element of one of these aspects in some form or another. I am a particular fan of poets such as Owen Sheers, Jackie Kay, Michael Symmons Roberts and Longfellow, oh and Minhinnick, but that is by the by for I'm sure that nobody reading this requires my recommendations poet-wise.
I studied Music and Creative Writing as an undergraduate degree, for which I created my first (unpublished) poetry collection, 'Sea Softened Stones' as one of my final year dissertations. This collection is a series of fifty four poems weaving around the buildings, history and lives of Pembroke Castle in South West Wales. My second (as yet unpublished) poetry collection is entitled 'As Ash Falls' and consists of one hundred and eleven interlinking poems narrating the story of two young men who were childhood friends in the Olchon Valley in Herefordshire, following the death of one of the boys. From this collection, two of the poems have been accepted for publication on the poetry magazine Cadaverine in August 2011.
I have now completed a Master's degree and am setting forth on the road to PhD-dom with more bally poetry. Such fun!
Toodle-loo and all that.
