My name is Tony Madonna. I am 22 years old and I have lived with cystic fibrosis my whole life. I was diagnosed when I was a few months old. My parents moved out to Colorado and I have lived in Breckenridge ever since.
In May 2012, my college career ended. I graduated from Boise State University with a degree in English with a Writing emphasis. I started my college career in Hawaii at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. I was only able to stay for a semester because the environment in Hawaii is not conducive for someone with CF. I transferred back to Colorado Mountain College here in Breckenridge and began my battle against two lung infections. The battle hasn't ended, but I will say I am winning.
When I am not on the battlefield, I work at a sports bar and grill called Downstairs at Eric's. For anyone that has been to Breckenridge before, you probably know the place. I have been employed at Eric's for 5 years and am currently a manager.
When I am not working, some would find me behind my drumset, on the basketball court, catching a frisbee, writing, watching movies, listening to music, following the Denver Nuggets, keeping up on my Boise State Broncos, or just finding some down time.
Cystic fibrosis has never defined who I am. I will continue doing the things I love to do despite what CF throws at me. Of course, I might have to alter course once in a while but 90%, I am able to do what I want and it's just along for the ride.
