I am an interested member of the British public who believes that Tony Blair should not be forced out of office at this time, unless it is his wish to go. The electorate voted for his party, for the third time only eighteen months ago in the full expectation that he would serve "a full term" as leader, as he himself stated. One of the arguments you hear for changing our Prime Minister is that THIS PM is too powerful and dictatorial, and makes up policy without Cabinet debate. The British system delivers this abundance of power to any PM whose party has won a large or decent-sized majority, however, so this is not a new consideration. And we are being asked to replace one PM with another, who shares (it would seem) his domestic and foreign policies. If there are differences, we can only guess at them for the moment while this phoney war continues within the governing party. Regardless of my own opinions for changing the balance of power in government I am not advocating changing the voting system in this blog. Nor am I suggesting that if Tony Blair or another leader promises to get out of Iraq, they should be our Prime Minister. These points need not be considered in this blog. Many of us will have different opinions on these matters. At this blog I am only about finding out if others think as I do. That our PM, whether we voted for him or not (and I didn't) we do not want him to go ... yet. It might be called the Voice of Democracy. Let's see how much support we have for keeping this Prime Minister in place until we are happy that he has served his third term as fully as he needs to. If you share my view on this please contribute to the blog. This blog aims to accumulate as much backing for the PM's continuance in post as possible. Those who don't agree with the aims of this blog, please do not contribute. Anarchist, conspiracy theorist, Blair-haters and "Anyone but Blair" postings will be deleted by the administrator.
