bitter sweet designs
Lelandi was born on the 26 of October 1989, in Vereeniging (South Africa). She was in Sasol high and matriculated in 2007. Study Graphic Design at Vaal University of Technology. Before she studied Fine Art and later decided that is not her destination, but Graphic design is defiantly what she wants to do and be a successful Graphic Designer one day.
Her influence came from her influential artist Salvador Dali, why him? Dali’s life and work are linked to many events in his life, for that reason Lelandi’s work is also linked to the different events and stages that is passing through her life. Mostly it is based on surrealism with the expression “surreal drama” meaning psychic automatism by which it is intended to express. “Thought dictated in the absence of all control exerted by reason, all aesthetic or moral preoccupations.”
As Graphic designer her influence came from a numerous designers, Jonathan Barnbrook is one of the few because of his graphic authorship “phrases coined by designers who see a separation between public and private work, he doesn’t.” Her poster influence came from the designer, Brian Barclay, her song she chose is change from an African Reggae range, she chose this because it makes her feel free and inspired. She has a mania for nature and this song is mostly based on that matter.
The same goes for the CI, nature is all around the world, her passion was to bring the beauty of Mother Nature forward. When we look at her fonts and posters, you can see what she means by nature, birds, leafs and ocean everything is linked to her passion for nature.
When her drawings goes back to surrealism.
