I am a retired civil liberties attorney and former musician. To earn a living as an attorney, many of my clients were other attorneys, who engaged my services to prepare pre-trial and appellate briefs because I earned their respect for my analytical skill and ability to research law, evaluate evidence, write with clarity and accuracy, and prevail against the odds. But my passion is justice, and I devoted more time to helping people who otherwise would have had no help – especially people harmed by abuses of power, particularly by police and prosecutors. I may be the only attorney in Los Angeles who successfully sued the City Attorney’s Office for damages. Post-retirement, I have returned to my love of filmmaking and become a digital video-maker, creating both entertainment and serious video essays on subjects of political and historical significance. My political philosophy: Always question authority, then reject the answer. My religious philosophy: Ask not what you can do for god, ask what god can do for you.
