NOTE:Hi! :) My name is Lauren. I am a Christian, and generally a very happy person. :D I am a Senior at the University of San Francisco, majoring in Math and double-minoring in Computer Science and Spanish, while also getting a Master's in Teaching with a single-subject teaching credential in math. In Fall 2013, I plan to be a high school math teacher, hopefully at Mission High School here in San Francisco. I was born and raised in San Francisco (3rd generation San Franciscan). And, of course, I am a huge San Francisco Giants fan! I've only been a fan since the end of 2002, so I don't know much about baseball history... but I am eager to learn more! And I've just started becoming a SUPER crazy fan since 2008. I have Giants season tickets, and I try to go to as many games as I possibly can. I also score every single game I go to. I try to never get up in the middle of the game for anything, because I never want to miss a single pitch! And starting in the 2009 season, for every home game I go to, if I'm available I've started going to the ballpark about six or seven hours before the game starts to greet players as they arrive, and I've been trying to stay after the game for a couple hours til they all go home. :) (And even for the games I can't go to, if I'm free before the game I'll go to the ballpark early anyway and just leave when I have to.) It's really fun! I've even gotten a few other crazy Giants fans to join me. :D I've also recently (within the past couple of years) gotten really interested in the minor leagues. Since I live in San Francisco and don't have my own car, it's pretty hard for me to get out to San Jose to watch the high-A Giants team play, but I still go to as many of those games as possible. And I try to keep up with as many of our minor league players as possible, all the way down from teenage rookie Dominican League & Arizona League players up to old veteran AAA players, which is really hard cause there's a couple hundred of them. I'm really bad at sports, and so I've never played baseball or softball or anything. So, I actually don't know that much about baseball. For instance, when a pitcher throws the ball, I'm still learning to tell if it's a curveball, changeup, fastball, or whatever. But I try to read everything I can about baseball, and I love to listen to people discussing baseball. I try to add my opinion when I can, but a lot of times I can only agree or disagree or regurgitate what someone else said. I also love statistics, and reading about the official rules of baseball. I find the obscure ones (like the fourth out rule) fascinating. I've realized I really don't like criticizing players, talking about who should be traded, how much money players should make, etc. as much as most people (even though those seem to be the popular topics among other sports fans). Also, if you haven't noticed already, I like to ramble.... OK I think this is a long enough bio now. Probably too long. Bye! :D If you want to know more about me, follow me on Twitter at @sfgiantsgirl :)
