A cornucopia of twists and turns: from Biloxi, MS; eldest of 13 children; in the convent for 7 years after high school; after that, moved north for graduate school at University of Chicago; met hubby-to-be; wed him in Germany while he was on military duty there; had our first son; back to Chicago for hubby's PhD and my law school degree, both at U of C; clerked for a year for Judge Gee in 5th Circuit Court of Appeals; practiced (20 years, 4 of which as a partner) at Steptoe & Johnson, Washington, DC; second son born during that period. After S&J, formed and managed Make Piece/Peace, a 501c3 designed to help low income women (and interested men) learn and practice jewelry entrepreneurship as a vehicle to reach self-sufficiency. Trying to determine what comes next. Art is certainly in the mix!
