<aboutMe>My name is Nicolina although I tend to go by Nikki. My hobbies include finding and collecting vintage tea cups, reading interior design blogs and books, baking sweet things, eating sweet things, watching nature documentaries with my husband, travelling, and more recently, learning how to sew.

When I was younger I always said I’ve never be a domestic goddess…I intended to travel endlessly and write alternative travel literature and eat a lot of exotic cuisine. Although I have been extremely lucky to have travelled well (and eaten a lot of great food), what I’m feeling lately is a desire to celebrate the every day things I discover that make me happy. This blog is about the domestic life we all ultimately lead, and finding ways to make it more meaningful, exciting, and creative. My creativity is something I’m still learning about and I want to share the journey of going back to basics and making and doing things that matter to people in the context of their daily life…

The name donkeyblu is inspired by a very close and special friend of mine who always managed to find beauty in the most simple, day-to-day things and situations. The donkey was her favourite animal. It is a creature that embodies very humble qualities and performs equally as humble tasks, yet remains honourable, strong, and unique. This idea of the modest and unassuming yet still lovely is very appealing to me, and why I’ve decided to share my newfound appreciation of daily life in the home and beyond.</aboutMe>
