Paul has a wife of over 30 years, two daughters, and six grandchildren. Paul is a Vietnam Era veteran serving his entire three-year obligation in the 1st Armor Division, Germany as a tank gunner. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1975, Paul returned to school earning his Associates Degree in Arts & Science from the Southwest Illinois College (formerly Belleville Area College).
In 1984, Paul created a start-up business and in 1987 was the first to implement a Macintosh computer and Laser printer in the printing and graphics business arena. Paul developed a number of start-up businesses that he owned and operated including Cherry’s Printing, Cherry’s Printing & Advertising, Cherry’s Computer Graphics, Cherry’s Printing & Advertising Specialty’s, Cherry’s Home Building and Restoration, and M.P. Cherry, Incorporated. In 1998, Paul sold and liquidated his entire businesses holdings in Missouri and Illinois to move to Texas to be near his children.
Paul’s union experience includes approximately eight years in the United Steel Worker's Union (USW), eight years in the United Auto Workers’ (UAW) Union, four years in the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers (PACE) International Union and several more years in the Retail Sales Union (now SEIU). Paul served at various times in the capacity of Trustee, Shop Steward, Chief Steward, and President in the unions listed.
In 1977 Paul was the lone whistle-blower when he uncovered a long history of financial malpractices while serving as a Trustee in a local affiliate of PACE. History repeated itself in 2009 when disgruntled union members of a local affiliate of the USW drafted his union wisdom to investigate alleged misconduct by union officials. Again, Paul uncovered fraud, stolen local funds, and International unfair labor practices.
In 2007, while working full-time at an envelope manufacturing plant, Paul earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance. Today, Paul continues his entreprenueur spirit working as an independent general contractor and building successful ecommerce in the health and nutrition arena at skinnyliver.com. Paul is also busy writing as a political advocate articles at Views from Main Street, Facebook at michealpcherry, Paul Cherry (paulrevere2016), and Skinny-Liver, all of which can also be found on Twitter. Paul is also in the process of setting up several new start-up businesses on the internet.
