Born on April 30, 1948 in Taylor, Texas to a fifteen year old 1/4 Cherokee daughter of a sharecropper, I was sent away to live with a first-generation German couple. Raised in north Texas and southern Oklahoma, the characters and events along the Red River shaped my perceptions of life. Except for a six year stint in the Marines and a little jungle war I have always tried to stay as close to my old stompin grounds as possible.
