Ship 317
Sea Scout Ship 317 is part of the Atlanta Sea Scout Squadron based out of Lake Lanier, GA. We meet on Wednesday nights in Johns Creek, GA.
Sea Scouting is like Boy Scouts on steroids.
Sea Scouts is a co-ed branch of the Boy Scouts for ages 14-21. It is a fantastic program for experiencing and learning about leadership, life, outdoor, and teamwork skills. Our unit is called Ship 317 and we have 15 sail-boats at Lake Lanier, from 2 person racing vessels, to 20 foot boats. Now, don't get me wrong, just because it is called "Sea Scouts", doesn't mean that all this "Ship" (equivalent to a Boy Scout "troop") will do is sailing and
water sports. In reality, it is the youth who run the program, so if we want to go rock climbing, we plan it and go, or. if we want to go on a week-long sailing trip in the Florida Keys, we plan it and go (the possibilities of what we can do are endless). Get the idea?
