SW Michigan, USA
I have always been deeply in love with homes; decorating and styling them to make a joyous, cozy and personal place to live. My current home is a challenging, late 1940's ranch-style located in a rural area on 5-acres in SW MI. My husband and I took a leap of faith to leave the city in 2000 to grow our own food, keep chickens, two Labrador Retrievers, garden "big," and generally live a hands-on country lifestyle. Our top priority is living sustainably! At mid-life, I remarried and reinvented my life - this meant leaving corporate America and striking out on my own. I designed and built the 950 sq. ft. White Oak Studio and Gallery on our lower MI property that we call White Oak Acres. This dream was about working from home, making and selling my earthy, rustic and textured collages on canvas using my own handmade plant papers. It's a blessing to live this creative journey full of artful adventures day-by-day. Open for 6 yrs., the physical gallery is now closed and I now sell through retail shops in my region and through Facebook. This light-filled building, located a short walk from the Small House is now my art studio. Today I paint and transform vintage furniture into family heirlooms. Thanks to all of you who join my creative journey and I welcome YOU to the Small House Under a Big Sky!
