I am a modern romantic, the energy emitting from my customers fuels my inspiration, the rest is just business. My signature designs – elegant and structural, elongating lines and, magnificent materials – are now some of the most sought-after bridal wear in Portland.
As a child with a mother devoted to the industry my experiences began early through family and China’s stylistic eclecticism and modern architecture. I attended college for apparel design in Shanghai and was able to relish in the city’s inspiration. I devoted all my time to studies, which provided me with invaluable knowledge of couture techniques, grounding my first store upon a similar ethos; a custom-made bridal and eveningwear boutique that thrived.

The following years were devoted to maintaining the business. Famous Chinese actresses and television hosts wore my garments and brought light upon my perfectionist minded tailoring and choice of exquisite materials. Synonymously, the dramatic increase of business landed my gowns in local high-end department stores throughout China.

Life, love and, my most valuable training brought me to the United States. As one of the most talented graduates of The Art Institute of Portland, the American market was at my fingertips. Directly after, Button Magazine published praise of my work, this inspired K.A.T.U. to show Portlander’s my face and interviewed me about my achievements.

I launched my first collection in Portland, Oregon under, Sophie Chang Collection. The salon, Sophie Bridal Couture, opened right in time to celebrate the design house and its first collection.

Biannual collection’s keep the local bridal network on their toes. Garments from Sophie Chang Collection grace the pages of countless inspiration shoots by Oregon Bride and Portland Bride & Groom. The Better Living Show showcased me and Good Day Oregon interviewed me after the crowd pleasing appearance at Oregon’s Bridal Convention. Martha Stewart Wedding’s picked up on me after my local recognition and this coming year a national magazine will boost Sophie Chang Collection all over the country. Keep the romances flowing!
