Ever since I was a kid I loved to lie to people, not to get any personal gain (okay, not always) but rather to entertain and fascinate them. Maybe they were all wise to my act in the first place, but I knew their smiles were genuine. They wanted me to keep going, to clear that cliffhanger and get to the end of the story. I had them in the palm of my hand.

Thus I found out that not only was I good at spinning a yarn; I was pretty good at making it exciting. So no matter how tall the tale, I kept going and challenging myself creatively to make it enthralling, but most of all fun.

And what do you know? Later I found out that's what writing fiction is pretty much all about. That's why I'm a teacher by trade and a writer at heart. Far from it being a talent or a gift-because that's up to you to find out anyhow-, it's a sordid, hidden romance with my imagination. And you know what? It's as steamy as it is fun. I don't think it'll ever get old either.
