<aboutMe>In January of 2012 I lost me long awaited daughter. After eight and a half months, and with no real warning, she was still born. The evidence tells us that she had been dead for about a day by the time she was born. But it offered no answers to our question, and no reason for our loss.

Through this time of grieving, our friends surrounded us with love and comfort. Even people we did not know, and who did not know us, showered us with condolences, gifts, and blessings. Every few days, someone would hand us a gift and tell me to “take another week or two off from work.”

The money could not pay for the loss of my daughter, and no one entended it to. I would have gladly stayed at my lousy job if I could have kept my Lucy Soul. But I did recognize the gifts as a blessing far more than anyone could have imagined they were giving us. A chance to stay home with my family, and to pursue the life that my wife and I had been called to.

My wife had been struggling to start a Cloth Diaper business (now open, at DiaperCircus.com) and I had been neglecting my love for art, and my desire to garden.

We decided that it was time to live a little less “safely” and a little more idealistically. To follow our inspiration from Henry David Thoreau, William Morrison, Tony Campolo, Shane Claibourn, etc.
To live more sustainably, more healthily, more creatively, and artistically. Better for our world, our community, our home, and our bodies.

I owe a huge “thank you” to all who gave money, not knowing what it would start, and to all of our friends and family who support us through our loss, and into our new life. This is what you gave to us, and so much more!</aboutMe>
