Carmen A. Belcher
Carmen Alicia Belcher is the founder and fashion & style director of DressCode, a wardrobe-consulting agency she founded while in high school. A published journalist since 17-years-old, Belcher began the fashion blog DressCode Deluxe Dispatch while studying arts & culture reporting at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. Her very first job was as a brand representative for American Eagle Outfitters at 15-years-old. She continued in retail every summer break, eventually leading her to be requested to design, model, and fashion style. She interned at InStyle magazine in the fashion closet as a student at Hampton University, where she was also an award-winning lifestyles editor of the Hampton Script newspaper and fashion correspondent of pop-culture radio program "The Yard."
In 2006 when David Stern, the commissioner of the NBA, enforced a strict dress code on the players, Belcher jumped on the opportunity to assist professional athletes who needed her help by styling and organizing their closets and came up with the name for her company, DressCode. Belcher was recently hired as the freelance beauty creative services coordinator for L'Oreal USA Matrix Global hair care but is here exclusively to share her world with you.
