I am a pianist in various bands, and lead two groups - Play, a multi-genre party band, and QuiKeTo, a jazz trio featuring Keith Feinson and Quinny Lawrence. I love music and want to share my humble offerings with a wide audience as I can, which is why my tracks (on reverbnation.com/jazzwonderboy) are all free to download. It is not just about advertising my bands, although I do love playing live and that requires audiences!
In my blog I update about new tracks, gigs and photos, and also write about musical matters of interest - it is refreshing to be able to stretch out the word count longer than Twitter's 140 characters or Facebook's status updates!
My main role in life is as a doctor, but I've found you don't need to blog in that line of work to get traffic - people tend to come and find you!
