I'm Bro. Tom Wendorf, SM, National Vocation Director for the Marianist Province of the United States. We pray for you and all others who are discerning God's call in their lives.
I invite you to learn more about the Society of Mary. We are an international religious congregation of brothers and priests founded in post-Revolutionary France by Blessed William Joseph Chaminade. We are part of a wider Marianist family including the Marianist sisters (the Daughters of Mary) and a variety of lay Marianist communities. Our U.S. Province is engaged in many ministries throughout the country, including Puerto Rico, and in Eastern Africa, India, Ireland, Mexico and the Philippines. Our ministries include secondary schools, universities, parishes, retreat houses, service in inner-city neighborhoods, work with families, and practice in the trades, arts and legal and medical professions.
Community is central to our mission and how we live it out. We are all brothers, some ordained as priests, and we live together in community, sharing our prayer, our work and our lives. We seek to respond to the needs of our particular time and place, and we work with our Marianist sisters and lay collaborators to build Christian communities that give living witness to the Gospel today.
We are men of faith who take as our model of discipleship a woman, Mary, the mother of Christ, who calls us to be hospitable and generous, and whose words in the story of the wedding feast at Cana continue to enliven our mission: "Do whatever He tells you" (John 2:5).
Again, we pray for you in the journey of discovering your life's calling!
In Christ's Peace,
Brother Tom Wendorf, SM
