I was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania a small quaint town known as the actor Jimmy Stewart’s home town. It’s also known for Indiana University of Pennsylvania. It’s a small country town that is grown like crazy.
My father loves the outdoors and enjoys to hunt and fish. He would take our family fishing with him when I was child up until my teens. I would always catch the little sunfish or also known as blue gills, but was disappointed when my fish were too little that I couldn’t take them home. My Dad taught me a lot of things about the outdoors. Like for instance "being quiet when you’re hunting and not asking so many questions."
My husband of over 20 years is an avid outdoorsman who loves to hunt and shoot competition. Which I enjoyed learning from him. He has taught me how to hunt and shoot with my rifle, and how to shoot my compound bow last fall. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get anything with my Bow in Archery season. I was though very appreciative to see the wildlife up close. It was an experience I have never done before. When I'm outside in my tree-stand or in my blind I can sit there and just watch the wildlife all around me. To me this is amazing event, because most people don't get the opportunity to watch and see the deer walk around. It's an experience that I will always cherish and that is "My first Bow Hunting experience." My husband has taught me how to reload ammunition which I am still learning about. He is my inspiration for the outdoors. I also enjoy spending time with him, and learning from him. We also enjoy taking our handguns out for some target practice, which I try my best to beat him. Maybe someday I will, since he is a competitor shooter.
I also spend my time relaxing by writing, horseback riding, knitting, crocheting, reading and traveling and most importantly spending time with our daughters. When I'm not doing any of the above, I'm working on my articles.
I ‘m a member of the NRA and I have taken a shotgun and pistol classes through the “Women On Target Program”. This was a very fun and learning event for me. I was able to see and shoot all kinds of pistols and shotguns at both of these clinics. They taught me how to shoot the guns properly, the safety in handling, and carrying the guns. I’m also a member of the NWTF and went to one of their “Women in the Outdoors Event” last summer and really enjoyed myself. I was able to learn how to shoot a Bow and Kayaking for the first time. I learned how to use several different kinds of Turkey Calls from box to the mouth calls.
I’m also a member of the Women’s Outdoor Media Association, a Gear Gal for The Women’s Outdoor News. I have started my own site called Real Outdoor World-Keeping it Real Outdoors, which I’m constantly improving it.
I love spending time with my husband in the outdoors; it brings us closer together. Our schedules are so crazy that it’s nice to spend time with him in the outdoors whether it’s target practicing, hunting, or just going on hikes. It’s our time for some peace and quiet to get out of the hustle and bustle of everyday living. I encourage everyone to get outdoors and spend some quality time with your spouse. I can say one thing is that “You won’t regret it!”
