Welcome to the Australian Centre for Ancient DNA (ACAD for short).
From here you can access all of ACAD's online presence and explore the fascinating world of ancient DNA. For official resources and our recent publications, see our Website. To hear about life researching in ACAD, check out our Blog, and watch us work on Youtube. Keep up to date by following us on Twitter, Facebook, or Google+.
Ancient DNA offers a method of directly exploring a population from the past. Extracting DNA from a wide range of historic and ancient samples, sourced from museums and the field, grants us access to their archaeological, forensic, environmental and zoological histories. Allowing insights into evolution, biodiversity, climate change, paleoecology, and the microbiome.
At ACAD, we actively develop and use environmental DNA, and bioinformatic techniques, which, alongside our ancient work, offers our skilled researchers a broad range of methods to gain unique cross-disciplinary insights.
