Alexis Candelaria is the author of two books, "Have Faith" and "In Disconnect". She is a Los Angeles native and grew up in a small town north of East Los Angeles. She attended high school in Montebello, CA before attending college at the University of La Verne where she earned her bachelors in psychology and masters in education. She went on to become a special educator and specialized in working with students with emotional disturbance. Since 2014, she has been a dedicated educator in the south central Los Angeles region.

Writing has always been a passion of Alexis'. Her first novel, Have Faith, was published in 2015. She then embarked on a creative project that involved four short stories around the theme of failed connections, after she finished reading "A Thousand Years of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Alexis' follow up, "In Disconnect" was recently published and has already garnered attention.

Alexis' third book, "In the Absence of Grace" is due out in early 2020.

Alexis' favorite authors include Haruki Murakami, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and Margaret Atwood. In her spare time, she enjoys long distance running and listening to 90s grunge music.
