Oluwafemi Olubamibi popularly known with his brand name as Bamifemi has over 6 years of experience in the graphic design industry. He hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State but was birthed and raised in Ibadan, Oyo State.
He is the Creative Lead at Balmy Media Concept (self-employed) where he focuses on designs and prints and also an undergraduate student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is the pioneer of Design Support Africa, an initiative geared towards giving graphic design support to CSR projects across Africa at no cost. He has worked with advertising agencies like Y&A Communications, Neon Signage Companies like Tort Signs, and Post-press and Pre-press organizations like The Rehoboth Links. He has also worked and still working with quite a number of organizations. A few of them are; RCCG School of Disciples, Lagos East BYC, Gideon II BYA, Life Imprints, Toptech Nig. Ltd., Discreet Technologies Ltd., Tasco Prints, CITCC Lagos, NYFA Cotonou-Benin, Oma's kitchen California-USA etc.
Bamifemi has contributed his design skills to a few causes. He is the creative designer (volunteer) at Project REVAMP Africa, an NGO keen about sound education and leadership skills for public secondary schools students in Africa. He is also the creative designer (volunteer) at The Autism Awareness Place, an NGO with believe that all children should be treated as equal, able or disabled. He is also the lead creative designer (volunteer) for W.A.R - Walk Against Rape (A Rubies Ink Initiative - keen about cleaning a world of sexual harassments, rape and other sexual immoralities). He has and still is volunteering with Girl Hub Africa, an all female professional volunteers network with the interest of making volunteering a daily life of young African ladies and as well creating employment for them, as a virtual creative and also as an onsite volunteer.
He is the co-instructor of Graphic Design Class at Upskill, an initiative of American Tower Corporation in partnership with Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) and Jobberman, Nigeria. He is also the graphic design instructor at the Start-Up Summit, an annual skill acquisition programme organised by Rex Foundation, Nigeria. He is also a voluntary designer at the youth department of Christ Victory Baptist Church, Lagos (His home Church). To mention a few, Bamifemi, as a creative, is doing well as to giving back to his community through his skills.
He is a young, energetic and an advocate of self-reliance among youths. His favorite quote is “It is much better to know something about everything than to know everything about one thing…” This words from Blaise Pascal is the driving force that pushes him to keep learning new things and breaking new grounds in the world of graphic design and beyond. He is confident that Nigeria will be better and that model leaders who are truly concerned about the plight of the “ordinary” Nigerian will emerge. He plans to set up a programme/project that will promote self-reliance among the youths, especially the less privileged ones in the nearest future.
He is a lover of art, music and technology and he works more efficiently while listening to good music (instrumentals preferred).
