I live in Kansas with my husband, Kevin, and Bentley, our dog-child. I have always had this dream tucked away in the back of my mind that I would one day become an author and artist. Being able to express myself is vital to my happiness; I share my emotions and thoughts in everything I do.
A life changing event in 2011 opened this door for me. Allowing me the opportunity to fully explore things I had only dabbled in. I was diagnosed with a rare spinal cord disease, syringomyelia. The symptoms of the disease have been severe enough that I am unable to work outside the home. I live with chronic pain, loss of sensation over most of my body, and difficulty with motor function every day. Despite those things, I chose to use this time as an entryway into the creative life that I have always longed for.
I began writing poems and short stories and even began writing a novel. Then I decided to take my doodling a step further into drawing and painting. These are things I am able to do, as my body allows, in the comfort of my home.
I have published two poems and sold several of my abstract paintings. With the help and support of my family, l know I will continue to grow and pursue my dreams.
Through my website, you will find posts written about all the things that create my happiness, writing, art, books, life with chronic illness, and of course, my family.
