Boyd Sturgess

My name is Boyd Sturgess and I have been a teacher for 10 years. I was born in Hawaii but grew up here in Chicago. After going to high school in New York, I moved to Chicago to attend Chicago University, majoring in Art History. After that I came to Bakersfield to be with family. A short time later I attended UCLA to get my paralegal certificate. Once I was finished, I again returned to Bakersfield working as a paralegal. Some years and three children later, I decided I wanted to change careers and become a teacher. I wanted more open time to be with the children I was, and still am, raising. I went to CSUB and received my teaching credential in 2002. In 2004, I was hired as a teacher at Castle Elementary school.
