I started ObsidianPhotography.com in 2002 on the student servers at the University of Oregon. The site has changed over time, however the goal remains the same; to share nature and landscape photography from the Pacific Northwest US and beyond.
I came up with the name Obsidian Photography after a backpacking trip to the South Sister mountain. The South Sister is one of three conjoined mountains with an abundance of obsidian veins, near the central Oregon town of Sisters, Oregon. It is one of my favorite places to explore and photograph.
The site began, in 2002, with film photography, but I have since expanded my gear. Some of the original film photos can be seen at my Flickr account (see Obsidianphotography.com About page for links). I now shoot on a Sony A7 with a few adapted manual focus Zeiss and Canon lenses.
