Here in the Northern Mariana islands region, I am called a "haole," a white outsider. Someone who is not native to this place, and perhaps who doesn't belong here. Though technically we are not "ex-pats" since we are US citizens in a US Territory, my three kids, my husband and I are all visitors here. Read along while we try to figure stuff out in this new place, and all of the other places we visit over the next two years while living "on-island" in Saipan, USA.
