Ellie Thompson

United Kingdom

Ellie Thompson is a writer of non-fiction and poetry. She’s written two books published under a pseudonym many years ago when she was a very different person from who she is today.
This blog, in its infancy, was mostly about her life's past experiences (a period in her life when she wasn't physically well and troubled with poor mental health). Having been in such a dark place for many of her earlier years, she now appreciates being so well every day. She has studied various aspects of mental health, a subject close to her heart, and did a lot of voluntary work at the local university, sharing her previous lived experiences with third-year mental health nursing students.
Recently, after not having written for more than three years, she decided to write her memoirs along with some day-to-day observations, views and feelings. She is disabled and uses an electric powerchair called Alfie, and lets very little get in the way of living life to the full these days.
She believes that kindness costs nothing, whether towards a friend, stranger or passer-by. Smiling at someone or a kind word can be beneficial to both parties. Those little things, perhaps, practised daily like a mantra, could mean so much to a person.
