My name is Jessica, and I'm a mess. There, I said it. Whew, glad that's out of the way. In reality, throughout most of my life I've struggled with perfectionism. I've always wanted everything to be just right, and when it hasn't been, I have gotten frustrated to the point of giving up and have even gone through seasons of depression as a result. But here's the thing: life is messy, life is not perfect, and I'm starting to not only accept that, but embrace it. In in a time where "perfect" Pinterest projects, "perfect blogs", and seeing everyone else's "perfect" life via social media showcase everything you aren't, we actually have to go on the offensive and battle the notion of perfectionism. That's doesn't mean that I won't strive for excellence, but I will also embrace the bumps along the road.
