I am a (medically) retired Navy Chief. I am a mother of 2 humans and 4 dobermans, been a wife more than a few times, an over-achiever, and have a serious case of Dorie syndrome! After struggling horribly with my transition out of the military and almost becoming homeless, I found my Faith and the love of Jesus. HIS love has helped me to understand my past struggles but also to now walk without fear. I found my calling in being an advocate for veterans and also to empower other women to find and own their God-given talents and strengths so they can live the life they were meant to live. I'm a bit all over the place - hence the nickname "Dorie". I love Dobies, heavy metal/country/gospel music, am a serious multi-tasker, and end my days thinking "how the heck did I get all that done today?" But when it's all said and done, I want my children to be happy and my daughter to know that she is capable of doing whatever she sets her mind to. I want Veterans to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel and their struggles are only temporary if they are willing to fight for themselves. And I want to inspire and empower women to not settle and to set good examples for their own children to follow and look up to.
