I'm a freelance researcher in Film and Trauma Studies, with further interests in several other subjects, such as photography and memory studies. In July 2015, I completed my doctoral thesis on the representation of duration and absence in the post-trauma cinema of Filipino director Lav Diaz.
I have graduated from Stirling in 2011 with a BA (Hons) [First Class] in Film&Media and French. My dissertation project, A Bunch of Gentlemen, a twelve-minute documentary, has won the RTS award in the category Best Undergraduate Factual, the Celtic Media Award in the category Student Factual, and it also received the award for Best Film at the HalfCut Short Film Festival in St. Andrews. I've received my MLitt degree in Film Studies [with distinction] from the University of St. Andrews in autumn 2012.
I'm currently working on a monograph on the cinema of Lav Diaz as well as on a wider research project involving the use of cinematic slowness for therapy purposes. I'm also working on setting up a VoD service for slow films from around the world.
